Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The past week has produced settled weather with possibly too much bright sunshine for ideal fishing conditions and the resultant rise in temperature in daytime and the sharp fall during the night resulting in the fish feeding erratically at different levels and quite elusive to contact. Feeding was not aggressive with many fish being contacted but not hooked.

However, reasonable catches were recorded with J Murison from Turriff leading the charts with a total of 35 fish for his several visits during the week and with Orange Fritz, Buzzers, Humungus and Bloodworm being his best end tackle. Other good catches were recorded by:

K Reid, Gardenstown, 14 fish (including one at 7lb), (Nomad), G Murison, Fraserburgh, 9 fish, (Bloodworm/Orange Fritz), J West, Peterhead, 6 fish, (Purple Buzzer)

The following anglers landed 5 fish each on Bloodworm/Buzzers and Blobs, G Burton, Gardenstown, J Freeland, Aberdeen and P Vigars, Macduff.

The lighter nights will now allow for extended hours and from Monday the fishery will be open from 8:00am til 8:00pm, seven days a week. Further extension to the hours will be made as light permits.

The fishery is a Troutmaster water and visitors and novices are welcome. Boats, rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery.
