Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

Kevin Moss

A change in contrast from fish taking smaller flies to lures as they went deeper with a lower temperature.Yellow dancers,Damsels and blobs did well, but buzzers still took their fair share of fish also.Intermediete lines were required to seek out fish but the floater was still required when conditions suited.Pick of the fish was a 7lb Brownie taken by Barry Oldfield on a small lime and green nymph and wa sreturned unharmed.Gordon Grant had 19 fish on buzzers,Mike Matthews had 10 on Blobs,Peter Green had 23 fish on Bloodworms,Tom Anderson had 15 on an olive damsel and Eddie Kane had 10 on buzzers.Alec Cruicshamnks had 10 on a hares ear nymph and the average was around 6 fish per angler this week.

Coarse loch:= the reverse of warm to cold weather didnt help fish here, but those who did fish caught.Ide,bream, roach were the main catch and maggot was the pick of the baits as they do favour the more natural type. With spring just about here fishing should pick up as temperatures start to climb
