Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

Having enjoyed a week of settled weather we had hoped to report some good catches but instead found that anglers were forced to work hard for their fish. Recorded catches show fish falling to the dryfly, Buzzers, Nymphs and Bloodworms and to a variety of lures fished deep and there appeared to be no consistency on the feeding patterns leading to anglers constantly adapting their tackle to try to entice the fish to feed. Another week of settled weather is on the horizon and hopefully the more consistent temperatures will allow the fish to settle into a pattern and that feeding patterns will become more consistent.

The best recorded catches this week were;

M Ewen jnr, Turriff, 10 fish, (Blob, dryfly, Buzzer), I Watt, Turriff, 8 fish, (Olice Buzzer), C Field, Fraserburgh, 7 fish, (Nymphs, Buzzer), J Murison, Turriff. 6 fish, (Yellow Cat's Whisker), J West, Peterhead, 5 fish, (White WSW).

The Troutmaster fish off for 2011 will take place on the 7th April and the 2012 competition is now open to all comers.
