Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The past week has produced good fishing conditions and although a bit breezy at times the rise in temperatures seems to have excited some fish and we are able to report our first catching on a dry fly which induced numerous offers although the fish were lacking the attacking spirit. Generally we saw more feeding fish at the 3-5 foot level and this led to Buzzer and Bloodworm being attractive lures while the normal Blob/Cat's Whisker and WSW were still receiving attention at deeper levels. The milder weather seems to have stirred up some of the bigger fish with N Thomson, Turriff, landing a nice 9lb specimen with S MacLean, I Watt, G Thomson and M Ewen in close attendance with fish in the 7-8lb range.
The best catches recorded this week were;

G Thomson, Buckie, 18 fish to 7lb (Various), M Ewen jnr, Turriff, 13 fish to 8lb, (Diawa Bach/Bloodworm), C Field, Fraserburgh, 12 fish to 5lb, (Buzzers/Blob), S Maclean, Fraserburgh, 9 fish to 7 lb, (Various lures), A Gibson, Gardenstown, 9 fish to 7lb, (Olive Damsel), J West, Fraserburgh, 8 fish to 7lb, (Damsel/Cat's Whisker), I Watt, Turriff, 7 fish to 7 lb, (Bloodworm).

The forecast indicates another mild spell for the week ahead and hopefully the fish will remain active.
