Burns Pairs Postponed

                             Burns Pairs Postponed .
The best laid schemes of mice and men gan` aft agley
And leave us nought but grief and pain, for promised joy.
Robert Burns put into words what was felt at Lochter Fishery Oldmeldrum on Sunday, when the Robbie Burns Pairs Competition had to be postponed due to too much of the water being iced up.
Disappointed anglers will be pleased to know that the haggis has been put into cold store and the event has been rescheduled for Sunday 19th February when hopefully conditions will be better.
During the past week the weather has been mixed with some days bright and sunny while on others the “bitter biting North” made thing very nippy. The hardy anglers were not put off and supplied with plenty of hot tea or coffee from the Fishermans Bothy and fortified with the occasional dram they all did pretty well.
Paul Sharp used buzzers to account for nine and the same flies worked for D Miller who caught and released seven. By and large it has been lures and bloodworms which have been being favoured by anglers’ Donald had eight on dancers, Tam Wood seven on WSW`s and Karen Gillies seven using bloodworms. Pete Green made two visits during the week and using his favourite wooly worms did fantastically well with nine on one occasion and twenty on another.
The winter league is at the halfway stage and is too close to call .The way it is shaping it could be all down to the final in April which will be excellent.
