Good Mid Winter Sport

The continuing colder weather has finally settled the fish to their normal depth and feeding habits associated with the time of year. As a result good sport has been had by those who have adapted to the conditions.
Kris Wright had 22 fish for his day using bloodworm, Sandy Reid had 15 using a bloodworm/cormorant combination and Euan Beattie had 9 on a bloodworm.
Buzzers also did well and using this method both Ernie MacKay senior and junior had 11 fish each. So no family squabbles there. Paul Sharp had 9, Raymond Menzies 8 and Steven Moir 7 also on buzzers.
Popular lures used during the week were the black little devil- A Reid had 8 using it, the blue fritz-Graeme Ellington had 5 on it and S Coutts had 6 on a mini cats.
On Saturday Jamie McHardy fishing with Charlie Hendry landed a fine 11lb 2oz specimen for which a Troutmaster badge will be winging its way to him.
Jamie (rather tongue and cheek) wanted it mentioned that he would like to thank Charlie for ‘continuing to ghillie’ for him as he helped him to land the fish safely. He would also have been alluding to last year where he hooked a 21lb fish which led him a merry dance up and down the Muckle Troot both with Charlie following with encouragement and a net. It is a safe bet to say that Charlie will be trying to turn the tables on their next outing.
