Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The past week has been quite settled apart from the disagreeable wind which has driven the fish deeper but when it eases the fish are rising in the water column and taking at 3-4ft deep. Large numbers of fish are breaking the surface and appear to be feeding immediately sub surface but despite all efforts, with a variety of tactics, we have been unable to contact these fish.

Bloodworm, lures and Buzzers were the order of the day and some good catches were recorded including;

N Thomson, Turriff, 11 fish, (Buzzers), K Wright, Newburgh, 11 fish, (Bloodworm), C Field, Fraserburgh, 10 fish, (Pink Blob), B Hay, Aberdeen, 7 fish, (Bloodworm), A West, Fraserburgh, 7 fish, (Bloodworm), M Ewen jnr, Turriff, 7 fish, (Fritz and Cormorant).

The next few days are forecast as settled and warmer than seasonal expectations and look good for a few days sport. This week saw some bigger fish with recorded catches up to 6 pounds suggesting that the deeper fishing is contacting the larger specimens.

Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water and is open 7 days a week from 8:00 til Dusk. Booking is not necessary and all tackle including boats, rods and gear is available to hire. Visitors and juniors are welcome. For further information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
