F-Flies (Olives and Blacks)
Klinkhammers (in all colours)
Toss up between: a PTN (most fish in a session) and a Detached Daddy (biggest fish of the season).  :z16

Has to be :

No. 1 - Olive Nymph # 14 ( has always been the best fly in the world, never failed and fishes well in river and loch )
No.2 - Brown cruncher #14 ( fished middle dropper )
No.3 - Black buzzer red cheecks.

I would be quite happy to take only these flies on a days fishing, anywhere.

Your top 3 trout flies in 2011 were ............?

1. CDC emerger, similar hook/shape to DHE, 14s & 16s
2. CDC sedges, 12s-16s
3. silver invicta, 14s

these wee guys were the most frequently used on still & river this year, with an honourable mention for a pink bodied partridge spider early season

1.  Wyatt's DHE  in various sizes and colours , but mostly hare's ear and dark olive. They either want it or they don't.  No half measures.
Mostly , they want it.

2. Copper tungsten bead PTN.

3. Copper tungsten bead GRHE.

2&3 both in various sizes of hook /bead dependant on current strength. Was right down to size 20s at one point in late summer.

My three most successful flies on my local club water, where the rules are that only dries, nymphs or traditional wets are allowed, no lures or weighted flies, which limits the selection were -

1) Blue Tag
2) Blood Worm
3) Green Tag

Unfortunately, I don't know the names of 1) and 2) as I bought the originals in Ireland, found they worked great on my local water and copied them!
