Lochter Report Final League
« on: 10/10/2011 at 14:05 »
Sunday saw the exciting conclusion to the EM Diagnostics Summer League Pairs Competition with the area’s top anglers vying for the top prize of £500 pounds. There were 4 or 5 pairs still in contention on the final day for the top 3 prize spots, so the pressure to maintain consistency was paramount.

On the day, the pairing of Keith Crockett with Alan Noble, who was standing in as reserve for Chris McAllister, held their nerve and were deserved winners. It was perhaps the inspired and calming words from fishery manager Stuart Patterson who said to them before they started “well lads you can only lose it!” which steeled them to their task in hand.

In second place with a fine effort were Kevin Neri and John Brown who picked up £300. In third were Tyler Hay and Andy Barrowman who received £200.

Once again the event was generously sponsored by Bill Thomson of EM Diagnostics and his continued support of this premier event was greatly appreciated by all the competitors. Bill has indicated he will continue to sponsor the event with a larger 1st prize of £1,000 next year which will certainly entice anglers from out with the region to take part.

The cold and windy weather meant that sub surface tactics were the most favoured.
S Fullerton from Dyce and M Fullerton from Kemnay caught 10 and 8 fish respectively using damsels and an olive wooly bugger.

David Pottinger on a trip down from Shetland and obviously used to the wind had 16 fish using a variety of beaded lures mainly olive or black.

G Cheetham, senior and junior, netted 17 and 14 fish for their day both using olive damsels.
J Parsons had 9 fish using a variety of beaded lures and Ewen Murray from Aberdeen had 7 using a black little devil lure.

Buzzers were also found to be effective with N Kidd accounting for 5 fish on a black one, M Wilson landing 6 fish on a lime green one and R Lowe got 5 fish on an olive one.

A reminder that we are taking names for this years Winter League competition. So contact Lochter on 01651 872787 to put your name down or if you want further details of what it entails.
