Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

No adverse comments on weather this week. Albeit the temperature is dropping a bit but a light breeze has maintained a nice ripple on the surface and the occasional shower has kept the air and the water fresh. This week's forecast indicates a higher air temperature this week and hopefully the dry fly fishers will continue to enjoy another week or two.

Some good catches have been recorded this week and the variety of end tackle indicates the fickleness of the fish with the feeding patterns going up and down the water column at almost hourly intervals.

The best for this week were;

K Wright, Newburgh, 18 fish (including a 5lb specimen), (Bloodworm and Buzzers), A Murray, Gardenstown, 18 fish, (Black Fritz/Budgie), A Gibson, Gardenstown, 16 fish, (Bloodworm/WSW), M Nicholson, Bradford, 15 fish, (Various dry flies), E Quirie, Turriff, 10 fish, (Various dry flies), N Thomson, Turriff, 10 fish, (Olive dancer/Buzzers), M Gauld, Blackdog, 9 fish, (Bloodworm).

It is always encouraging to note an increase in junior angler numbers and this is to be encouraged. Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water where youngsters and beginers are encouraged and boats, rods and tackle is available for hire. The fishery is open seven days from 8:00am till 7:00pm whilst daylight permits. Bookings are not necessary. For further information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
