Ladies Day at Lochter is Great Success.
« on: 05/09/2011 at 10:47 »
With more and more ladies taking up the sport of fly fishing Lochter Fishery Oldmeldrum and Somers Fishing Tackle Aberdeen got together to organise a special day for ladies. Under the guidance of top International lady angler and English Team captain Sue Shaw ,the girls had a terrific day and all reported greatly benefitting from the careful and personal instruction on casting, retrieving and using various techniques to make their angling experience more enjoyable and more successful. It would not come as a surprise to see some of the North East ladies go on to make the Scottish team such was the enthusiasm generated.
With the harvest now in full swing and plenty of fly life and corn lice being disturbed as a consequence there has been much surface activity on all the lochs and anglers have been enjoying good top of the water sport all week long.
On Tuesday D Parkinson caught and released ten on dries, Colin Henderson fifteen on buzzers and I Morrison from Oldmeldrum the same number also on black buzzers. By the middle of the week there was more of a breeze and Ron Ewen netted eighteen using traditional wet flies, a very good method at this time of year. Harry Kemp had a dozen on buzzers and diawl bachs and B Mathers thirteen all over 3lbs using white and orange fritz flies.
Looking down the list in the catch record and the very positive comments it  clear that fishers are having a bonanza time just now.Tam Wood ,Pete Green, Karen, Craig Guthrie ,and Roddy Milne are just a few  of the names that feature but virtually everbody is enjoying their fishing ,which is how it should be.
The penultimate round of the summer league will be held this Sunday and  things are getting are getting pretty tense at the top as the scores are very close .This means  it is all to cast for to win a share of the £1000 sponsor cash from E M Diagnostics .
