Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

After the previous weekend of torrential rain and high, coloured water the fishing quickly settled during the week and from Tuesday onwards, good fishing was enjoyed. Surprisingly, although we witnessed good catches falling to various "dry" presentations the top catches of the week were to anglers fishing sub surface and lures. Surely the month for the "daddy long legs" has not slipped past and hopefully we can report on good "dry" catches in the coming weeks. The evening rises have been weaker but the evening air has had a distinctly chilly feel, leading to less surface activity.

The best recorded catches this week fell to;

K Wright, Aberdeen, 16 fish, (Buzzers), N Thomson, Turriff, 12 fish, (Purple Buzzer), C Danes, Foveran, 10 fish, (Green/Black blob), K McInsteray, Motherwell, 10 fish, (Bunny leech), B Hay, Aberdeen, 9 fish, (Buzzer), B Milton, Buckie, 9 fish, (Black Fritz), A Murray, Gardenstown, 8 fish (Black Fritz), A Hay, Buckie, 7 fish, (Black Buzzer), J Watt, Motherwell, 7 fish, (Okay Dokey).

The weather this coming week appears to be a bit mixed but nothing that should prevent fishing or reasonable catches.

Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water and is open to all visitors and beginners. Booking is not necessary and boats, rods and all tackle is available for hire. The fishery is open seven days from 8:00am till 8:00pm and further information can be had from Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
