Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The weather this week has been distinctly variable and yesterday (Saturday) the water was buffeted with a cold north westerly wind which has unfortunately been followed overnight and today (Sunday) by even stronger winds accompanied by torrential, driven rain. Certainly a day to tidy up the fly boxes and give the gear a check over. During the week, despite the conditions, some favourable catches were recorded including;

B Milton, Buckie, 9 fish (Black Fritz), M Ewen jnr, Turriff, 8 fish (Klinkhammer/Dries), C MacLean, Fraserburgh, 8 fish (Hoppers), L Davidson, Macduff, 8 fish (White Fritz), I Bremner, Elgin, 7 fish (Okay Dokey), J Walker, Elgin, 7 fish (Okay Dokey)

Weighing in with 6 fish each were N Thomson, Turriff (Buzzers) and A Murray, Gardenstown (White Fritz).

The surface activity has been greatly reduced with the fish being driven deeper due to the weather conditions. In common with most fisheries we have been battling against weed growth but are happy to report that we are maintaining good fishing conditions.

Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water where visitors and beginners are welcome and booking is not necessary. Boats, rods and tackle is available for hire and the fishery is open 7 days from 8:00am til 8:00pm.
