Have you tried taking one outside and hooking it to a plant or tree and doing the macro thing with a nice background. Daylight adds so much to the photo. A bit like this

Just an idea.

Might be a good type of competition for us forum chaps. Not the quality of fly, although that is important, but the nicest photo taken outside.

Very nice fly and quality picture. 

I was fishing a dark version of this on Saturday on Banavan and had fish on it, just shows how universal it is as there was hardly a fish rising. 

The CDC and elk has been one of my favourite flys this year.  Although it is a sedge imitation I think it will be great when the MB's are hatching in the right colours!
