Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

Last week I predicted a good weeks fishing for the coming seven day period. How wrong could I be?! This week has proven very stiff with the fish reluctant to take. Many theories have been put forward for the more difficult fishing including - lack of fish (dismissed as stocks are high at present), weather (bright sunshine at times with heavy showers and with the area sitting under low pressure and the wind from the east), feeding (an abundance of natural feed and insect life which has led to general inactivity and unwillingness to come to artificial lures). Whatever the reason, I am certainly not going to predict the coming week!

Despite all adversity the following catches were recorded;

B Milton, Buckie, 12 fish, Dry/Buzzers
K Wright, Aberdeen, 10 fish, Buzzer/Bloodworm
J Bisset, Fyvie, 9 fish, Dry/Buzzers
R Donald, Macduff, 8 fish, Dry/Buzzers
T Harold, Peterhead, 7 fish, Olive lures
B Hay, Aberdeen, 7 fish, Bloodworm/Cat's Whiskers
A Murray, Gardenstown, 7 fish, Black Fritz

Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is a Troutmaster water where visitors and beginners are welcome. Booling is not necessary and boats, rods and tackle is available for hire.
