With water temperature still very low lures such as w.s.w. and various fritz patterns are still the main approach for anglers but on the milder days buzzers and nymphs can work and are well worth a try.
St Fergus angler A Anderson was top rod last week taking 32 fish on a black fritz with his heaviest being 10lb, S Rankin landed 20 to 5lb on buzzers and nymphs while I Bremner boated 16 to 5lb on a skunk. F Murray and R Loukes both had 15 to 5lb on lures. Nicky Tams angling club landed 61 fish for their day with the best fish being 7lb while T Novak bagged 14 to 3.8lb on a bunny leech. J Walker boated 13 to 3lb on a skunk while S Milton banked 11 on buzzers. G Chiverton landed 10 to 3lb on various flies while M Mead, R Hambly and B Reid all landed 9 on lures with Mr Mead taking one of 7lb. S Innes, M Smith, G Wood and A Hay all bagged 8 on lures with George landing one of 6lb while R Smith, W Kerr jnr, P Lyon and M Michelle all had bags of 7 with W Kerr having one of 7lb.
