Exactly how tight should the cork rings be to the blank? If they are too tight do they just wipe all the epoxy off the blank?

if you use a rat tail file, it creates a very uneven inner surface, if you file it so it is a gentle push fit but doesn't slide off on it's own, then the epoxy fills the voids in the inner surface and bonds it brilliantly to the keyed blank.
You don't need much epoxy to make a really strong bond, it just need bits to stick too.

Finished up the rear grip last night.  Although I did make a trip to B&Q to get a new file, the one I had was fine for the 3wt but nowhere near long enough for a double hander!  However why don't they sell individual files? Had to buy a set of nine in a fancy canvas case...  :mad :mad :mad

However the rasp takes off a lot of material quickly and then the round one for small adjustments.  Simples.
