A beautiful day on the Don
« on: April 27, 2011, 22:22:31 PM »
I was on the river about 12:00 and ate my piece before wetting a fly.  Since last week the swallows have arrived.  I saw a good salmon move upstream. I got a take about 1pm but lost the fish and my fly; I had snagged the fly a couple of time and didn't check to see that it was still secure.

I moved downstream to the hut and about 2:30pm got a take but didnt hook the fish. I cast over exactly the same place and got a 12" trout.

It was a beautiful day on the river, chilly though, and with a variable gusty wind, sometimes upstream, sometimes downstream.
