At last, water and air temperatures are rising although a persistent wind still prevales. The fish have definitely risen up the water column and some anglers have enjoyed success on the "dry" although this has been restricted to certain periods of the day. The predominant "catcher" this week was the Buzzer particularly in black forms and, the smaller the better. However, lures have not been ruled out and cathes as follows were recorded. Bert Reid from Peterhead netted a nice 6lb wild brownie and this species has been quite active this week.
L Davidson Macduff 21 fish Buzzers / Fritz
S Anderson Peterhead 14 fish Black WSW
M Ewen snr Turriff 12 fish Orange lure
J West Fraserburgh 12 fish Buzzer / Lures
C Field Fraserburgh 12 fish Buzzers
S Maclean Fraserburgh 10 fish Various lures
M James Lancaster 9 fish Dry / Buzzers
S Griffiths Fordyce 9 fish Yellow fritz
S Rankin Peterhead 8 fish Black buzzer
M Ferguson Turriff 8 fish Buzzer / Bloodworm
The weather looks favourable for the week and hopefully good fishing will follow.
