The Lochter Fishery Summer League sponsored by E-M Diagnostics is offering fabulous cash prizes totalling £1000 again this year. The format will be a pairs competition with one nominated substitute allowed per pair to cover for absence. This enables offshore workers who do weeks away, to enter the event . The competition which is catch and release using the SANA points formula gets under way on Sunday 17th April and continues on 8th May,5th June,14th August,11th September and 9th October.  Anglers should contact the fishery on 01651 872787 or 872000 or by by E-Mail at info@lochter.co.uk. to enter.
While the Summer League is much loved by warm weather anglers a special word is due to those hardy souls who endured the worst winter in years to progress to the final of the Lochter Winter League.Hopefully they will have thawed out for the final this Sunday ,10th April, when the prizes will come from Somers Fishing Tackle,Aberdeen.
There was some terrific fishing to be enjoyed during the past week with everything from tiny buzzers through nymphs to big lures all taking fish. As the week progressed there was a definite switch by the trout on to smaller flies.
Frank Smith had a good start to the week with eleven on Montana nymphs and Alan Smith (no relation) also had eleven on black fritz .By midweek there were big hatches of natural buzzers and anglers using the artificial variety did well. J Donaldson on two visits had bags of twelve and sixteen on black buzzers ,T Kelly netted ten and John Dunsmore, up from Glasgow ,was delighted with his visit when he tempted fifteen ,all on small buzzers. Other successful buzzer exponents were A Fernie with fourteen, Ron Reid  and
Keith Johnston with  twelve apiece and F Moore with ten.
Diawl Bachs worked well for P Elrick who scored fifteen while damsels attracted twelve to the net of Dave Mackay and eighteen onto the clutches A Goodbrand and finally mini cats worked pufffectly for Paul Wilson who smiling like one of the Cheshire variety with his bag of fifteen.
The forecast for this week is for very mixed weather. This always keeps the fish active and will provide anglers with plenty of sport.
