Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 26/02/11
« on: February 27, 2011, 12:59:15 PM »
At last! What a difference a rise of a few degrees in temperature makes. Fishers emerge from hibernation and fish leave the deeper holes and spread themselves over the water. The last few days have seen a remarkable rise in fish activity on the surface and catches are being recorded in the upper water column. The variety of end tackle never ceases to amaze and with the best catches for the week we have shown the preferred lure to illustrate this point.

Top catches for the week were;

J Mackenzie             Girvan                     20 fish          orange fritz and buzzers
K Reid                      Gardenstown         18 fish         yellow dancer and bloodworm
N Thomson              Turriff                      18 fish           buzzers
C Field                     Fraserburgh            14 fish         cormorant
S O'Brien                 Aberdeen                14 fish         black lure
L Greenlees             Aberdeen               13 fish        black lure
E Wardy                  Banff                       10 fish         mini cat
I Watt                     Turriff                      10 fish          bloodworm
S Maclean               Fraserburgh             9 fish         various lures

M Bruce                   Buckie                     7 fish          nymphs

Another 14 anglers recorded catches of between 6-8 fish. The fish off for the Troutmaster 2010 competition will be held on Saturday 2nd April and all invited entrants should confirm their participation to the fishery on 07980 999006.

The fishery is open next week from 8:00am to 5:30pm each day.
