OK, a further clue.

There is a very tenuous link between a beat on the river and a Shakespearean play :z17
However tenuous, I'd have thought it's sufficient a hint to give the game away ???

Country loon go's into the Library in Turrif , asks the lady at the desk for a Shakespeare play , which one the lady on the desk retorts. William repies the loon  :z4
