Waterproof Trousers
« on: 04/02/2011 at 09:36 »
Hi folks

Alistair from Inverness is looking for a good deal on goretex trousers, or something waterproof to deal with our weather.

Any good deals out there at the moment? Hamish suggested checking out the "H.I.S." store, which I believe is just round the corner from you Alistair?

Cheers
Mike

I tend to use Golf trousers, there's plenty of Options depending on how much you want to spend. HIS is great as well or the other option could be Army surplus Gore-Tex ones as well.

A few choices here at GAC depending on what you want to spend. I like the Scierra Aquatex ones personally.

For around £30 you can get a new pair of Army goretex trousers. You wont find tougher.

If you dont fancy cammo, then the new german army gortex sallopettes in plain green are available from various places including Millers out Dunecht way as well as BA country stores. Bit higher waisted to to keep you back warm.

If you want "fishey" trousers, then Prologic or Sundridge do some good trousers.

If you are in Inverness go up the stairs in Grahams , they often have baragin trousers on the sale rail. I've had a few baragins from there over the years.

Mike has already mentioned my first suggestion of H.I.S (if you're up this way folks it's well worth a visit) and Jim has pointed out Grahams but thinking about it (and working on the assumption price and quality are an issue) Robs suggestion carries the best chance of a 'result'..... the army/navy surplus shop I've visited in Inverness is located off the junction between Lochalsh Road and Telford Street on the left-hand side of the road just before the roundabout for the A82  :z16

Well, I have just done a 3 mile walk into work in this horrendus rain, and my good old army Goretex did me proud once more. No sweat, no leaks and nice and warm.

I recommend this chap if you are wanting to order online, doubt you wuill get any cheaper for brand new stuff.

The Dutch cammo trousers are the same as the UK ones, but with an elastic waist rather than fly and button and thus better foe sitting in a boat with.
