Inverurie March to the River 2011
« on: 23/01/2011 at 22:02 »
Inverurie Angling Association would like to invite all to its Annual March to the River Don to celebrate the start of the season on Saturday 12th February. This is open to all Anglers, families and friends (and non-anglers).

We meet up at the Kintore Arms Hotel, High Street, after 9:00am and depart at 09:30am.

The March is lead by a Piper down to the old Road Bridge where the River will be blessed and a whisky is offered to toast to new season.

I hope you can come along and support us in what has become a local event.

Regards,
Bri.

Hi Brian
Thanks for posting the invitation by Inverurie Angling Association :z16

The March To The River Don is a great event and one that I know many forum members enjoy attending, a very nice way to celebrate the new season on the river ..... I'll be there

Here is a photo from last year, Raymond Bisset on the left and Peter Dow on the right.

and a nice one from the previous year

Sadly won't make this one as visitors up this weekend and don't think they'd be too keen on a river walk.  Some people eh?

Have a good one

Hi all,

Hope you can manage to come on Saturday if you have nothing else on.

Sorry but I will not be at the March myself as we are away this weekend.

Rev Graeme Longmuir will bless the River and Heather & Raymond Bisset will say a few words (maybe even a doric poem).

Regards,
Bri.

ps Whisky has been bought and passed onto someone who will be there.

Well it was a cold and wet morning, one where a wee dram to toast the new season was most welcome

Quite a good number of folk attended the march considering the conditions and it was nice to see a few new faces too.
As usual, a really nice friendly event :z16

I didn't have my camera with me this year, but I saw Iain and Ben taking a few photos, so they might post some later.

Best wishes
Mike

Glad to hear a good turn out.  Sorry i missed it but been entertaining family visitors all day.  They're off to the shops just now so a wee minute or two to myself.  Dram time i think.

Yes, it was a good walk despite the terrible weather, here are some photos I posted on the ADAA forum earlier

The Piper leads the walk from the Kintore Arms to the river although the minister is looking none to happy!

Its never to young to go fishing with dad, love the cut down rod! Is that a St Johnstone or St Mirrem scarf?

10 month old Archie checks out the now famous hat of his dad River Don Trust biologist, Jamie Urquhart. Little does he know the Trust have agreed to buy his dad a new hat for 2011!
