Looked in at Lochter today and only a few small bits fishable . They were go-carting on it yesterday I was told , you can see the tracks .

Another week I reckon .

I was over at the fishery again this afternoon and the loch is still covered by about 6 to 8 inches of ice. The shiny stuff on the surface in the video clip I took today is ice, not water.

The car electrickery was giving me a temperature of 0.5 to 1.5 on the way there ..... and in the sheltered valley of the loch it was -3 degrees :z3

I can't see there being any chance of being open for fishing for a good while yet I'm afraid.

Best wishes
Mike

Mike looks like your going to have to get a load of ice skates and hiring them out for 30min sessions  :z4

Don't let me put you off Jim , someone ( only one ) was fishing the top loch across road , and in the main lochs around the pipes are ice free .

Depends how many others turn up on the day . It could get crowded .

That's the temperature falling quite a bit already this evening .... any gain in water temps that we enjoyed over the last couple of days will quickly be lost again, Haddo is still a long way from fishable :z3

Cheers

Thanks for your texts and PMs regarding fishing at Haddo this weekend

I'm not long home from the fishery and it is still frozen solid I'm afraid, I think the ice is actually the thickest it has been this winter :z6 The loch will need a good number of mild days to make any difference,

Something caught my eye as I walked back along the track, quite eerie, I could see fish swimming around under the ice and I found it quite fascinating to watch.

Best wishes

Hi Guys,

Was wondering if anyone knows of any local waters that are open for fishing?
I know Kevin at Glen of Rothes is open but was hoping for something closer. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Paul

Hi Paul
Lochter should be ice free. I was there for a look last sat and there was only small bits open either sides of the road. Went again sunday and the whole loch across the road was ice free. I would say loch Insch should be ice free as well.
Cheers
Noel.

Hi folks

Just back from Haddo and the loch is still frozen over with thick ice I'm afraid. No chance of being able to open this weekend.

Best wishes
Mike
