Iain,
One of our rods fishing today has been using singles for tubes for a while now and he had the only fresh fish of the day and as we release all of our fish this could be the way forward. Tight lines, I am sure t hat your next spring fish will not be too far away.

Eddie.

Great Stuff Iain :z16,

Sounds like an enjoyable day and as always great photo.

I ventured out on Staurday to Kintore, nothing hooked and nothing seen. My casting is coming along nicely and i am confident in the patterns that i am carrying (even though they havent accounted for any fish yet) so it was an enjoyable day.
Hope to be out most days this week, will have to buy some decent socks though my feet were freezing by the time i finished.

Cheers,
Dan

Dan,

I was only in the river for 5-10 min's (a wee section on a pool that I think requires it) on Saturday and it was Baltic, really very cold. My legs were shivering within minutes of entering the water but I was again reminded of how good the Orvis socks are, my feet were totally oblivious to the cold.

Get a pack of 3 and never be concerned about your piggyz again.  :z16

Anything that lets you concentrate on why you are out has got to be worth it.

Cheers,

Fished for a few hours this afternoon and there was a definite Spring feeling in the air as the warm weather brought out a few stone flies, February Reds I think?

Fishing was slow through the first two pools so I changed to an old favourite fly of mine but with the new addition of Lime Krinkle Mirror Flash.

Had one knock on the third pool but that was it. Returned to the car and sat for a while taking in the day and planning to pack up.

Decided to fish one more short pool which was a thought as it was a bit of a walk. Managed to hook a fish half way through but I dropped it after a decent run  :z8
Fished on and took two kelts from the tail of the pool, rod bent, nice day, tipped my hat to the fly that helps me out on tough days then headed for home.

Bring on the Troot.

Nice one Iain. :z16
Hope this nice weather sticks around for the start of the trout season. No fishing for me this weekend but will be making up for that next week.

Hope you don't mind me jumping in for a bit of info. Never fished the Don but hoping to get a day sometime in March. I am looking for recommendations for salmon fishing. I was thinking for a day ticket on one of the council beats. Where would anyone recommend?  Thanks.

Fishing Kinaldie stretch Saturday afternoon, Brian and I came across a couple of fish. The wind kept the flies in the box so reverting to spinning I managed to land this one - we estimated 10lb + !
Apologies to the purists but it's my first ever Don salmon so well chuffed!
Cheers

Hi Martyn,
I managed an hour yesterday due to work and the wind was a right pain on the LH bank where I was  :mad
You are obviously well chuffed with your fish  :z16  let's hope there might be more silver ones before the Trout season arrives.

Well done on your fish there Martyn, unfortunately it is a kelt though and not a clean fish.
