Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

Today (Sunday) off to an encouraging start with 3 boats fishing by 08:00am but we have expericenced a much quieter week. Are we beginning to compete with Mr Claus for our anglers attention?

However, some good catches were recorded, in particular by K Reid, Gardenstown who netted a bag of 18 fish of which 7 were in the 5-7lb range. Well done! Other notable catches fell to brothers A and M MacPherson from Lhanbryde who netted a total of 21 fish for their session with 3.5-4lb fish in the catch and Neil Thomson from Macduff who landed a total of 8 fish including a nice 10.5lb specimen.

The fish were lying deeper this week and most recorded catches were at 4-6ft down with several coming from the bottom. Most fish this week fell to the bloodworm fished slowly whilst the Cormorant, W.S.W and Nomad fished with a moderate retrieve was quite successful.

Delgatie Castle will be closed on Christmas Day and New Years Day only, and will be open as normal over the holiday period (weather permitting). Boat bookings for 26th December and 2nd January are recommended.

Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water where all anglers are welcome including beginners and juniors. Booking is not necessary, just turn up. Boats, rods and tackle are available for hire.
