Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

At last - a week of more settled weather although the fish seem reluctant to adjust to the changing water temperature. For the successful angler there appeared to be no settled pattern and good catches were recorded on various lures fished on intermediate lines whilst others were equally successful with dry flies with the Klinkhammer coming to the fore.
Top catches this week included:

Scott MacLeod             Fraserburgh      18 fish
James Mackay             Macduff             13 fish
S Anderson                 Peterhead          9 fish
M Ewen Snr                Turriff                9 fish
J Walker                      Banff                 8 fish

Top weights for the week were recorded by S Anderson - 8lb, S MacLeod - 7.5lb, with 6.5lb fish falling to B Cresswell and M Ewen.
Today, although not recorded in this report, we have seen a flurry of activity with good catches of "Blues" on or near the surface with the Rainbows remaining somewhat deeper. The next few days seem to be remaining overcast with little rain and wind and could lead to successful angling.
We are delighted to see an increase in the number of junior anglers and are pleased to see them recording their first catches. We can all remember the first fish that we successfully "grassed".
Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water where junior and beginners are always welcome together with visiting anglers. Boats, rods and all necessary tackle available for hire.
