Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

At last!! An angler's prediction coming true! Last week I suggested we were predicting a bumper week with a good weather forecast and a double stocking programme. All has come to pass and with the introduction of next seasons Blue trout, which we have had to take early, catches have risen considerably. The "Blues" are very active and although averaging only 1 - 1.25lb are giving an excellent account of themselves and providing great sport. As they are for next season these are being fished on a "catch and release" basis but we are enjoying good catches of Rainbows in the 3 - 4lb range with several fish in the 6 - 8lb range also being netted. Among the leading numbers this week were:

S Anderson       Peterhead        18
A Booth            Turriff              15
S Reid              Oldmeldrum     15
G Wood            Macduff            15
A Gibson          Gardenstown     14
J Bench            Stonehaven       11
J Abel              Fraserburgh       9

Sandy Anderson, as well as being the leading "number man" also landed a tagged fish and took home with him a £100 prize. Well done Sandy and Bert was not there to help you!
As for the "end tackle" this week just about anything goes but Daddies, Buzzers and Damsels are near the top with a variety of nymphs and lures close behind.

Delgatie Castle is now a Trout Master water and young anglers and adult learners are welcome. Tackle including boats, rods and reels avaialble for hire.
