Prompted by a couple of folk on here I have been asked to look into organising a days fly fishing, but with a twist. None of those strange fish with an adipose fin, but something that will put a bend in the rod without costing a lot of money and using gear most of you will have handy.
I would like to propose a days fishing on Aboyne Loch for the Ide using fly gear and float tubes. It would have to be a saturday as the waterskiers are out on a sunday and it would be too dangerous thanks to there antics. (2-3 boats available too)
Ideal tackle for Ide (they reach 7 pounds in Aboyne) would be a 3-5 weight rod, floating line and standard immative patterns such as dries, buzzers, nymphs etc. They will also hit mini lures.
Other fish you may encounter will be Roach to a couple of pounds, perch and possibly Bream who lie to eat fry.
Its £8 a day, I am not sure how much they would charge for a tube but I think its about £6 to launch your own "boat".
Anyone interested?
