This is a general upwing representation,  material colour and hook size selection can cover a range of fly species.

Hook:      Partridge Surehold Lightning Dry Barbless size 12
Thread:      Orvis (Multi strand) Tan 12/0
Tails:      Coq De Leon - light Speckled
Body:      Turkey  Biot – Rusty Spinner
Thorax:      Natural Grey Squirrel dubbing
Hackle:      Brown Natural Saddle
Wing:      TMC Aerowing, Cinnamon

1)   Place hook in vise,  catch in thread and wind down to the point where the tail is tied in.

2)   Select 4 CD Leon fibres and tie in, secure down as you return the tying thread to the wing tying in point.

3)   Tie in a fibre of Turkey biot and bind down as you bring the tying thread down the hook shank. Stop one turn short of the tail to give a more tapered transition from body to tail.

4)   Wind the biot up the hook shank to a point just past the point where the wing will sit and secure with thread, remove biot tag.

5)   Take a suitable amount of wing material and tie in, remove tag ends. A few turns behind the wing will help to keep the wing at a better angle.

6)   Tie in your hackle, remove tag.

7)   Dub on some Squirrel and create a thorax – two turns behind the wing to start with makes for a nicer fly.

8)   Wind  the hackle in 2 – 2 1/2 open turns and tie off.

9)   Trim/ shape wing and cut hackle fibres underneath the fly to let it sit more flush to the surface film.
