Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

A much more settled week weatherwise although our water remained coloured from last Sunday's downpour until Wednesday. The fish are now active on the surface increasingly falling to dry flies with CDCs and Hoppers proving useful. Just below the surface in the top 18 inches of water, Buzzers are still accounting for good numbers of fish and at lower levels, Goldhead Nymphs and various lures including WSW, Yellow Dancer and Cat's Whiskers together with Damsels and Montana are "doing the business" with a quick retrieve being the preferred option.

Albert Ross from Fraserburgh had a good day on the 6th by landing two fish of 11lb and 7lb - well done Albert.

Elsewhere;

R Will              Whitecairns had 7 fish
J Mackay         MacDuff had 10 fish
A Johnstone   Inverness had 9 fish

Angler Bob Mackenzie fishing with the Peterehad Masonic Club netted a £100 tagged fish to complete his 3 "fish ticket" total.

It is encouraging to see the term "blank" disappearing from our record sheets and being replaced with catches from the large majority of anglers - long may it continue.

Looks like lower temperatures next week but here's hoping the fish keep coming.

Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is now a Troutmaster water and now operates as a "Fish Ticket" or "Catch and Release" fishery.
