hi lads been a while from a been on here im back home in belfast but doin a bit of sea angling on the antrim coast,was wondering if any of you could help me by giving me some info on when the sea bass run are coast lines, and is the best method of catching these beauties is by using a spinning rob and plugs,thanks and im looking forward to reading your replys,.

I have to say, I have never been used to try and tempt Bass (spinning rob!!)

I have not got much experience in recent years, living as i do up here, but in my "yoof" I did a lot of bassing in the Thames estury and along the essex/suffolk/norfolk coastline.

There is a new "movement" of modern day Bassers that have turned to the lure rod to tempt big bass from the coast. There are even a few companies that specialise in this equipment.

Many of the lures are comming in from over seas, especially Japan. They are extreme range casting lures that simulate sand eels and bait fish. Expensive but cast much further than traditional Tobies and Rapalas.

Catching them on the fly if huge fun (not had one yet, but fun trying) and if in the right place, a devestating method. Strangford Lough is rightly held in high esteem for Bass http://www.strangfordguidingco.com/guiding.html

Most of the Bass I have taken have been on peeler crabs or squid fished on a beach caster, but there is lots of info on lures and flies on the web.

there was a guy taking bass last july on montrose beach on crab and worm baits also heard of bass been taken in nets just north of St Cyrus in june last year
