Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

Good day to all.
On my local forums, newbies, always introduce themselves.
I trust that it is the same here.

My name is Korrie Broos.
I have been introduced to this forum by An Chuileog and Catman.
I have taken them both fishing on some of the local rivers around Cape Town. (the most beautiful city in the world :) ;). I think both of them will agree, and all of you who have visited Cape Town.)
I am a self confessed nymphomaniac. Who prefers to fish nymphs on our rivers and streams.

Should any of the forumers end up in Cape Town, send me a PM or mail and we can go and fish.

As you have seen from An Chuileog and Catman's threads, fishing in the Cape is special. Crystal clear waters, lovely wild fish, with superb scenery.

Looking forward to taking any of you fishing.

Regards

Korrie Broos

Welcome to the Forum Korrie

I am sure you will find we are a friendly bunch on here.

Yes it is a bit special fishing the streams near Cape Town, I will be back once I have built my own 3wt,
never thought I would be writing that down (me and a 3wt in the same sentance) looking forward to
spending another day with you on a stream somewhere.

Hello Jim
Dankie vir die warm verwelkoming. :)

Hi Noel
Yes the plan is still to come to the UK.
The ash cloud might change the plans. :(
But we hold thumbs that all will work out.
But I wont be able to get to Scotland.
WIll be fishing Wales.
Maybe next time, i will come and fish in Scotland.
I think I have a couple of goodwill credits in Scotland for the next fishing trip or 2. ;) :)

Yes you missed something what

"lyk soos 'n goeie rivier stelsel jy daar - wat is jou gunsteling manier van hengel die nimf?"

actually means is

"looks like a great river system you have - what's your favorite way of fishing the nymph?" :wink

Please correct me if I am wrong Iain/Korrie.

Super translation Alex.
Where did you learn to speak such good Afrikaans? :D :D

I do a variety of nymphing styles.
Depending on the water levels and what I feel like.
Czech nymphing, French Nymphing, Czech-French Nymphing, or some of the Italian styles.

I have been fortunate to spend a lot of time with fly fishers from the Czech Rep and Italian national teams.
In South Africa and Italy and Czech rep respectively., where they have showed me some of their tricks.

Gelukkig lijkt Afrikaans een beetje op Nederlands...
