Quality fishing at Haddo
« on: 18/04/2010 at 14:23 »
Whilst fishing at Haddo on Saturday I experienced the following 3 cast sequence.
First cast 10/11lb Rainbow
Second cast 14lb Rainbow
Third cast hooked an even bigger fish and lost it just at the point of netting. Estimate 16lb +

To cap it all about 3 casts later I had another 10lber.

Can you think of another fishery where that is even possible, let alone likely.
Great fishing, thanks Mike :z16

I don't think the fly mattered that much, but it was a yellow dancer.
I had struggled a bit with my normal flies, spiders and buzzers in the smaller sizes, so I tied on the biggest fly I had in the box let it sink for 10 seconds and stripped it back as fast as I could. That's what did the damage.
It is all too easy to get into a comfortable rut of doing the same thing in the same way. At this particular time they wanted something to chase.

There have been lots of great fish over the last two days, but they are not interested in any type of lure, be it fast or slow ........ they appear to want buzzers now :z4

Best wishes
