The increase in air temperature, together the disappearance of the snow melt, the water is finally warming up and that means rising fish and troot chasing flies.   Damsels, small dries/CDCs, dark buzzers, various nymph patterns and wets have all attracted fish this past week with some very good baskets (20 plus) and good sized fish, including an angler returning a brace of doubles and 2 others circa 6lbs during his visit.

SANA Bank Heat

Conditions were almost perfect for the competition and a total of 110 fish were caught.   With reduced numbers across the whole of Scotland, SANA effected some changes to the competition resulting in the semi-finals being removed.   This meant that the top 5 anglers from the heat would go straight to the final and, at the end of the competition, these were:

Paul Sharp, 20 fish for 49 lbs 5 ozs
Jim Adie, 15 fish for 37 lbs 4 ozs
Mike Cordiner, 14 fish for 35 lb 15 ozs
Kenny Riddell, 14 fish for 35 lbs 9 ozs
Tommy Graham, 10 fish for 25 lbs

Congratulations to the above and we wish them all the very best at the final in May.
