Delgatie Fishing Report 11/04/10

Another week past - but what an improvement in the weather. Enjoyed a great week's fishing with over 300 fish caught. Just a pause for thought - and looking at the water - what do you see angling as? Just a sport? Yes, it is a sport but then as with all sports there is two aspects - competition and fun - on the competitive side we had a fair share of more serious anglers who enjoyed great sport - with buzzers - Fritz, cat's whiskers and Bloos producing good results but with more fish now falling to the dry fly with small versions taking best.

Some of out better catches this week were:

A Gibson     Gardenstown     11 fish up to 7lbs
K Duncan    Auchnagatt       20 fish up to 10lbs
P Gray       Turriff               18 fish up to 5lbs
S MacLean  Fraserburgh       20 fish up to 4lbs
R Cowie      Whitehills          22 fish up to 9lbs
P Cowie      Fraserburgh       14 fish up to 3lbs

Now, the second aspect of angling, which was the fun and family outing, and this week we enjoyed the company of many juniors (courtesy of school hoildays) but worthy of mention were Nathan Cowie from Whitehills who matched his father's 22 total including a 7.5lb fish - well done Nathan. Next was William Moir fishing with Uncle Scott MacLean from Fraserburgh who landed a creditable 3 fish and last was Shona Slessor - who at nine years old was being tutored by father Kevin. Shona - on her own - landed a nice 2lb fish.
The best fun is to listen to the banter from bank to boat and the 'crack' round the fire in the hut, where all the biggest fish have been caught.
Congratulations to Billy Milne, Whitehills, who caught a nice 100 pounder - a tag that is - though Billy would have you believe it was the weight.
