What a week of weather, up and down like a fiddler's elbow. Cold and blustery North and North-East winds made conditions quite challenging along with squally heavy showers and fish who did not know whether to come up or stay deep. However, some excellent catches were recorded amongst which was J West, Fraserburgh with 26 fish all falling to a Cat's Whisker. Chris Fields, also Fraserburgh, landed 17 on a Pink Blob and J Tait, Fraserburgh, had a creditable 14 on a W.S.W. It appears the Fraserburgh lads were "up for it" this past week.
Also recording good catches were:
A Gibson Gamrie with 8
P Gray Turriff with 12
S Faithfull Mintlaw with 11
S Anderson Peterhead with 9
Even the 2-3lb fish have been fighting like demons this week and anglers have been enjoying great sport.
Phil Gray gave his new love - The Blue Doo - an outing and landed three nice fish in the first half hour. Other new lures are due for trials and Phil is optimistic on the results - Good Luck.
Our firends from Exxon had an outing on Sunday and despite atrocious conditions, enjoyed good fishing with all members returning home with a full quota.
When we have all been struggling for numbers, how's this for rubbing salt in the wound. T Atkins from Westhills walked into the fishery whilst attending a Birthday party locally. In his party finery he hired a rod and flies, walked along the bank in polished shoes, hooked up to 5 nice fish and walked away after 45 minutes. Most annoying - but good luck to him.
Must go now - I hear the kettle boiling. Tell Big Troot I will be advertising tea bags next week.
Good luck and tight lines all.
