Excellent stuff Alex  :z16  Did you encounter any problems or was it all plain sailing ?  Also, how does the wooden handle feel compared to a cork handle ?

Hi Cammy

Mostly plain sailing, did encounter a small problem fitting the handle, too much epoxy meant it wouldn't go together worked like a suspension damper  :oops  but once I removed some it went perfect.  :z16  The only other thing was whipping Black on Black, not good on the eyes :z5 :z5

The wooden handle feels excellent but still to try it in anger against a Haddo trout,  :z15 will let you know how I get on.

Looks great Alex, the jungle cock in lay looks really really excellent!  I know what you mean about black on black, blue on blue was bad and I could only manage about ten minutes before I had to have a break.

Cheers

i saw this rod at Haddo yesterday - it's a lovely thing. The wooden handle is amazing, be interesting to hear how Alex gets on with it on its debut outing soon. i really liked the black thread on black blank, real stealth bomber stuff

Best of luck with the new rod tomorrow Alex.

I too liked the JC feather inlay.

Well I christened the rod today on a lovely 6lb Haddo Rainbow,   :z15 :z16 no problems at all with the wooden handle in fact once you start casting it is difficult to tell it is not a cork handle. Used it with both Mike's new Outcast line & my Cortland Intermediate & it cast both with ease & I would say the Outcast line certainly increased my distance & improved my presentation at distance, can't wait to get out again.

Good to hear your new toy works well Alex  :z16
How long would you say it took from start to finish for the project?

If I take away all the time when I was away on Projects it took about 3 weeks, a lot of that was drying time for epoxy & whipping Black on Black which meant I could only whip so much at a time. On the lookout for another project now, think I will do another one with the wooden handle.

Did you turn your own handle Alex or did you buy it pre-made? I nearly bought a lathe today but luckily managed to stop and put my card back in my bag.

No Matt, I sourced the Handle from the States & got it made to fit the Blank.
