Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere.

I saw a member of the ADAA commitee in a tackle shop in town on thurs,he was asking for a list of the members who had already paid their fee's so they could be contacted regarding the Don districts decision to cut annual salmon bag limits(i think he said to 4/season)

I cant understand why a member of the ADAA Committee would be doing that as ADAA already have a 4 fish rule for the Don.   The Don Conservation Code which was only discussed last Friday - 12th February - simply follows the line already adopted by ADAA and remember the Don Conservation Code is voluntary whereas the rules of ADAA are binding on all members. Salmon catches for the whole of the Don are at a long term low so steps need to be taken to preserve fish for spawning.  It is also a recommendation in the Code that all hen fish should be returned to the river. More hens mean more eggs/juvenile fish so it is only common sense.

There might be a wee bit of confusion out there this year Bob? I know a lot of folk were hoping for a greater reduction in the limit to help conserve stocks, but lowering it to 4 will hopefully be seen as a good start. Checking the local website sources this evening, Aberdeenshire Council appear to be the only ones showing the new 2010 River Don Code with the 4 fish limit?

Aberdeenshire Council are showing the River Don code for 2010 (4 fish) http://www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/parks/fishing/anglingcode.asp

The River Don Trust is showing the code for 2009 (6 fish) http://www.riverdon.org.uk/conservationcode2009/conservationcode2009.asp

The Fish Don website is showing the code for 2009 (6 fish) http://www.fishpal.com/Scotland/Don/Regulations.asp?dom=Don

The ADAA website is showing the code for 2007 (6 fish) http://www.adaa.org.uk/rivercodeDon.php

Best wishes
