I've put the alignment markings on this morning. Do I need to coat over the markings on the male end of each section as well as the female ends? Ended up painting on the rod name etc because the paint pen was too fat!

Hi Matt

your choice mate :z16
I wouldn't bother coating either end
the enamel is plenty good enough

Its almost finished apart from the fact when I put it together on the drier I put my finger onto one of the whippings at the end of a section.  Oh well I've got one more coat to do then...  Last night I finally figured out how to get bubbles out!  So the finish is pretty good apart from a few very stubborn fuzzies!

The alignment marks

One of the rod whippings

The name etc on the handle

And finally the whole rod

It appears that taking photos of rods is even harder than taking photos of flies!

To be honest I think it you can make flies then making a rod is within your grasp.  I just need to save up to start on my next project.  The Barrio kit is an excellent starting point because its all there in one group.  Buying a blank and individual parts to go with it would be a different kettle of fish.  But I'm sure with the right research and advice I'll manage it.

Cheers

Matt

If you do one of these then you'll have a few quid spare instead of buying the Guideline Fairy rod and you can take Mrs Goolager out for a romantic evening meal!

Matt, to be a good Trout fisher you HAVE to be in touch with your feminine side, ok ducky!

and you can take Mrs Goolager out for a romantic evening meal!
It's easy to see you're still at the lovey dovey stage  :z4  I'll give you 2 years and you'll be taking up Sea-Trout fishing so that you don't have to put up with her snoring!  :z7 :z4
