Ben_D is a noteable absentee.  It's a bit surprising that I got in first on the 17th of the month.  But then maybe everybody else is like you and practising and practising and going to sneak it in at the end of the month.

Just seen that Matt  :z4

The only reason I have not done something is that my photographic skills are severely lacking.  Tied quite a bit recently, currently knocking out gold bodied Cascades in readiness for the salmon season.  Is there going to be a February SBS?  If so I will knock something up.  Some really nice flies and sequences here so far.

Cheers

Ben

This is just a quick and simple buzzer that has taken a few troot in its time and works especially well in coloured water   :wink
Fished on a floater or a midge tip a pattern worthy of its place in anyones box, hope you like it  :z18

Hook - Kamasan B100 size 12
Thread - Black UTC 70
Rib -     Golden Olive Stripped peacock herl (from the eyes)
Tinsel Body & Cheeks - Med Olive tinsel from Wapsi.

Place hook in vice. Start thread at eye and run down to whatever point you want the buzzer to end at. I vary the sizes of the bodies and have some short, some long and some medium  :wink

Catch in the stripped peacock herl at the lowest point

Wind thread up to just below the middle of the hook

Catch in the med olive tinsel and return thread to just below the eye of the hook

Wind the tinsel up in touching turns and secure with a couple turns of thread and cut off the excess

Take the herl and rib up past the tinsel and secure with a couple of turns of thread and cut off the excess

Take a piece of tinsel and stretch it by hand so its not so bulky and wide and catch it in just behind the eye

Repeat this one the other side of the fly

Once both cheeks are in place, pull both forward at the same time at a slight angle and catch in with a couple turns of thread

Trim off excess tinsel, whip finish and fly complete!

I normally give these 3 coats of Sally hansen but you can give them more if you want them to be bricks  :z16

These also do well in red or blue or whatever colour you prefer and just chop and change the cheeks to suit

Tight lines,
Baz
 :z18
