New size 21 Tiemco 212Y's arrived today - just gave one a try.

Head is a bit scraggy as the fibres on a strand of peacock herl appear very long when tying a fly of this size, look leggy under the thorax but untidy at head.  :z8

Hi "Yan"

Scraggy is good, scraggy works, I'm liking the look of all the flies in both your posts!

Cheers

Yan,

Furry boots did you get the tungsten bead that looks like a christmas tree decoration?

I like the Klink too although I'm not sure how you actually managed to tie it on a hook that small!

Cheers

Thanks Mike,

I'm keen to try them as they have a CDC 'collar' which I've not used on nymphs before. Also keen to try the Jig hooks on t' river.

Matt, the bead is a silver, 4mm, multi-faceted tungsten job which was bought 3 years ago from GAC (for JD's Grayling day out) and I just happened across last evening. You like?

Booked a day off agaes ago for the opening day tomorrow....................just cancelled it! much sadness :z6 :z15 :mad

Put them between a blob and a booby on a 4 flee cats and twitch them back on a midge tip normally works a treat  :wink
Top dropper on a floater would also be a good call with a weighted flee on the point  :z18

finally heading out to Haddo tomorrow to wet a line with the 3wt.  Very excited.  But a quick scan of my fly box told me that if it was a day for using lures then I was going to have a problem.  Something tells me that a 3wt line isn't going to turn over a extra long shank size six with a tungsten cone.  So i made a few like these

a couple of wooly buggers with 2.8mm tungsten beads which should get them down nicely.

I also tied a few snatcher sort of thingys.

And a nice wee spider.  On a size 16, I've no idea how people tie on smaller than that!

fingers crossed I have some luck given the weather forecast!

cheers

Matt
