Ythan today - The 20 minute salmon
« on: 30/10/2009 at 18:03 »
Hi All,
Fished the Ythan today (along with half of Aberdeen it seemed).

Water very high so spinning I,m afraid. Floating Hart minnow with a rattle.

Anyway, left the house at 10.30am and began fishing at @11am . Fish hooked at 11.20 and on the bank at 11.30 . A nice sea liced silver fish @14 pounds. I chapped it as I like to take one nice fish per season for Christmas time .

Didn,t fish on , thought I,d leave them alone for other folk.

 Back home at 12 noon.

Total time out one and 1/2 hours . I,m still pinching myself. :z4

Hi dave23 ,
                The fish was from Ardlethen.
I would go early to get a parking space .Last day of the season the place will be going like a fair.

Tight Lines mate.

Paul.

Crackin' fish Paul,

so that's the colour they're meant to be!      promised myself that I'd fish the Ythan this tail and if the start of the week had been favourable weatherwise I would have. Didn't fancy it today as I'm sure there were 1000 eyes waiting for a drop in levels.

The fish seems to have a bigger smile than you though you miserable b******   :z4 Grandpa duties taking their toll?  :z4

well done

Iain

Surprisingly there wasn't much out on Sat, was fishing on the Gicht beat. Caught a Finnock about 8 inch and a couple of browns that barley covered the palm of my hand all caught with the worm nothing with the flying c.

First time out on the river with the spinning rod so enjoyed it, will be back again next year.

Hi Harri,
Thanks. There are quite a few bright ones still around even at this time of the year. I am lucky to have a salmon river 3 minutes from my house !
Cheers,
Paul.
