Don-Trout fishing in September
« on: 24/08/2009 at 18:48 »
We have talked for years about getting up in September to see if we can hook up with some big Trout. Anywhere else we have fished, the sport in September during the day is usually pretty good given the 'right conditions'. Has anyone got any info on whether Don fishes well to dry fly,do the big Trout rise given a decent hatch. Anyone fished Monymusk/Castle Forbes a few times in September?

We did well this year given the sparceness of hatches and picked up several large fish between us and are keen to see if the river produces towards the back end! I know we can fish streamers but not really our bag I am afraid.

Any information would be really welcome

Hi Richard,

I am still doing o.k from tea time onwards providing the wind does not get up too much and it is warm enough, still getting hatches of caddis and midge quite reliably.  Picking up some nice fish on streamers.

Cheers

Ben
