Hi folks

"Spiderman", "Bri" and myself enjoyed a grand day out on the Kildrummy Fishings on Friday. We were met by "Gus the ghillie" and given a tour of the water by landrover, excellent start to the day! This is a delightful stretch of the river in beautiful surroundings, lovely and peaceful, we even disturbed a deer in the morning which bounded off across the field.

We all found the water at Kildrummy to be the perfect sort of width, one which enabled us to cover all areas with ease. We only fished about a tenth of the beat on the day, as it was such a lovely stretch with very easy wading and it just looked so very "fishy".

Hatches were consistant throughout the day and there were enough small fish rising to keep things interesting, we didn't see many larger fish rise though and my best would have been somewhere around the 3/4 lb mark. Sandy caught fish in good numbers and had fun experimenting with deep nymphing under the banks, but it was Brian who caught and released the best trout of the day, a cracking Brownie of approx 3 lb!

We took a break at around 5.30 and went up to the Glenkindie Arms, where we had a delicious meal, the food really was first class. Then we returned to the river and fished till around 10.30.
All in all, a great day out in great company!

I have enjoyed some great fishing over the years due to the generosity of people like Bruce Sandison ( Bruce's book really is "the bible" of where to fish in Scotland ) sharing their knowledge of our lochs and rivers, complete with all the important details regarding location, how to get there, who to contact and what to expect ....... I strongly agree with this sharing of knowledge and that is what our "Fishing The Fly" website is all about

Hi all,

Just to add what Mike has said it was a fantastic day out, great company, great fishing what a beat where everywhere looked `fishy' which suited me as I really only fish for Trout, food at the Glenkindie Arms was not to be missed but also many thanks to Gus the Ghillie who met us and went over the whole beat, approx 4 miles, that sort of intro does not always happens.

We fished all of the afternoon and had quite a lot of smaller trout, went for our meal then back to the river, decided to leave my bag and net in the car ie travelling light, what a mistake hooked into a great trout hence that it why it ended up on the bank, it was returned for someone else.

The whole day just highlighted that we `should look outwith the box' works speak, there is some terrific water right on our doorstep that we should take a look at. It is good to take us out of our comfort zones and put us to somewhere we have never fished before and catch fish. Although saying that if I hadn't caught a thing I would still have had a great day.

I had  a great day.
I've not fished Kildrummy before, i wish i had As Mike says, a great size to cover the fish.
Easy to wade if needed, and beautiful surroundings.
The food at the Glenkindie arms was superb  Heartily reccomended, Decent Beer too

Brian's fish was the icing on the cake, well done that man

I couldn't have wished for a better day out for a last river trip before we go. Cheers Guys

Great pictures looks a really nice stretch of water

Think i,ll give gus a bell,spoke to gus last year and he mentioned the brown trout fishing was good up there.

Good to see you had a good day,As i imagine you don,t get much time fishing yourself with the fishery.
