i saw a grilse coming off kintore on sat....

 :z15

unfortunately not to my rod....

then again i was fly fishing and the young lad was spinning. As he was clearly a beginner i thought, fine, just below the mark but hey..they are too high anyway

then all i hear is a squeel and there he is into a fish

just goes to prove my though that spinning is FAR superior to fly....

much more rewarding on the fly though, sometimes its the challenge that makes it fun!

A youngster fishing the Don - Now that is a rarity!!

Hopefully the experience has got him hooked on fishing for life.
Perhaps if the council and river board actually encouraged spinning they might attract more youngsters and help save our sport from dying out!

well, when i say he was a youngseter....early 20's ;-)

either way he was clearly a beginner so i didn't get annoyed with him for not fly fishing.

Lets face it - 2 inches below the kintore spinnning mark still means there is a LOT of water !!??!?

But i'll not even go there............

Suffice to say i don't think i shall be re-joining kintore next year

The grilse have got as far as Strathdon, landed one today 3lb bang on and moved a few more.  No response at all until I started stripping Sunrays.  Was fishin Semeil fishings below Newe Bridge, lovely water, some nice trout too.

Cheers
