Haddo Trout Fishery

Hi folks

Anglers were still catching plenty of fish on dries and spiders at Haddo this week, but “winter tactics” are creeping in and many are opting to fish lures, which are also producing good sport

In the boats, Lloyd Rattray tempted 12 fish up to 10 lb, Hugh Baxter 18 to 5 lb, Horace Wetherly 21 to 8 lb, Kenny Hall 16 to 9 lb, Bob Reilly 13 to 3 lb, Neil Garden 12 to 10 lb, Robbie Campbell 14 to 3 lb, Walter Kerr 12 to 8 lb and Les Harris 21 fish up to 7 lb.

In the float tubes, Iain Cameron did well to net 10 in very windy conditions and Rod MacKay also caught 10 using a new 3wt rod and a Loch Ordie.

You don’t have to catch fish in large numbers to enjoy yourself of course, about a dozen browns over 2 lb and blues up to 7 lb have featured in the catches this week. Scott Hartley tempted 9 fish up to 10 lb, Gary Cheetem kept a personal best 11 lb rainbow from 5, Mathew Reilly kept 3 for 15 lb 2 oz and released another 4 up to 8 lb and Mason Garden caught his first 8 fish on the fly, including one of approx 9 lb  :!:

(below) Walter Kerr with a fish of approx 8 lb, one of a dozen on the day .... "Kipps the ghillie" was kept busy  :z4

(below) Gary Cheetem was more than happy with his biggest ever rainbow which weighed 11 lb on the scales.

Best wishes
Mike
