Down Lochter way last week no two days were the same weather wise.
For the most avid fishers the vagaries of the weather whether it be snow, sleet, rain have very little influence on their decision to fish but the one weather element that does effect them is a good gale of wind. Last week you therefore had to pick your window of opportunity and many did and were rewarded with some fine mid-Winter sport.
R. Gibson fished lures and was well into double figures for his efforts, his fish being caught on either the damsel or yellow dancers.
Peter Young fished his favourite Muckle Troot loch on a 6-hour session and brought 19 fish to the net on either blobs or okay dokay.
A. Rutherford fished the yellow dancer lure to good effect as he landed 16 fish with it.
Paul Ingram fished all 3 lochs during his 4-hour session and he was quickly on the fish using a cormorant and buzzer combination, which got him 14 fish for his day.
Jim Ruxtron from Portlethen on a sinking line had 10 fish on the black WSW lure, Fred McAlley from Aberdeen also on the WSW had 9 fish and Sandy Kelman from Turriff got 8 fish on a white fritz.
Other fine efforts in the conditions were Graham Duthie with 5 fish on various lures, John Smith from Inverurie with 5 fish on buzzers and Neil Garden also with 5 fish on the WSW and Rob Roy lure.
Hopefully for the week ahead the winds will be a bit more subdued and at the moment we are clear of ice, which is a bonus in itself for the time of year.
Tight lines,
S.P 14/1/20.
