Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The Aul Troot

Winter has arrived and following a week of dropping temperatures, we rose today (Sunday) to our first covering of snow. There has been no icing of the water and the fishery is open as normal. Whilst the fishing has remained steady with fish coming to the boat and bank in steady quantities, the angler numbers have dropped considerably this week although we can report that none of the hardy few "blanked".

The best catches this week fell to;

Norman Thomson, Turriff, 7 fish, (Buzzers), Lenny Davidson, Macduff, 7 fish, (Fritz/Cormorant), Melanie Alexander, Turriff, 7 fish, (Bloodworm).

Congratulations to Melanie on her first serious solo outing to achieve such a considerable result.

The fishery is open all year apart form Christmas Day and New Years Day and fishing is available from 8:00am til Dusk seven days a week.

Boats, rods and tackle is available for hire and our facilities include a heated bothy (very welcome at this time of year) and a constantly boiling kettle.

Delgaite Castle is a Troutmaster water and booking is not necessary.
